I am in need of a free antivirus can anyone suggest any?

i had the free version of Free AVG but it won't download. I've tried it over and over at least 4 times and it still won't load.

Whatever you do, just make sure you have one of each type installed, updated and fully working:

AVG is free and good! Try that.
I very highly recommend NOT using free Anti-Virus software. I used AVG for a long time until finally purchasing a real anti-virus. When I ran my first scan it found a virus that had slipped passed AVG. I'm not the first person to share this experience. You really do get what you pay for.
