AVG is the best anti virus program I ever had.
I use AVAST -- it's a free and very nice download. I much preferred it to AVG (which is what I used previously.)
AVG has a good free one to download. They do run updates all the time. I run my update every day. We had Norton but it let viruses through.
Go to McAfee.com and do a free PC check for viruses. I use them sometimes to make sure nothing has slipped through PC-cillin.
I doubt if you can really get a good free antiviral program online. These companies have to stay on their toes monitoring for new worms, Trojans and virus all the time. They do deserve reimbursement for their work. You can look on CNET.com and read about the programs available and user ratings. I find the most information in the user ratings.

Yes you could go to search type in internet security and look for download it protect you more then the virus it protect you from spam, hackers trying to break into your computer from the internet. firewalls and you got access to adult materials. It also have updates do and you could also check for report what your computer prevent try it. If you want to buy it it s up to you but you need a credit or debit card.
