All those so-called FREE programs require you to pay them to remove the stuff from your computer. It would be nice to have one that REALLY works, and removes the bad stuff. Allthe FREE ones Ive downloaded, ask me to pay afterwards....
Whats a Good FREE antivirus program that doesnt make you pay to have malicious things removed? Have a website?symatec
For your anti-virus needs, I would suggest Avira AntiViråº PersonalEdition Classic. It has excellent heuristics, a virus detection rate that is better than most ''paid-for'' anti-virus programs and is light on using your computer's resources. Uses less then 10 MB RAM on my machine. And did I mention that it's free!

BTW, Avoid the free version of an anti-virus called AVG, it is wildly popular with noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children, but it has horrible virus detection capibilities.
Enjoy!

AVG

The ones you buy work better than the free ones. Purchase an anti virus/spyware CD at your local computer supply store.
Ad Aware. it's free and good one to have just type it into google and it'll come up in the search. you can also find it on Lavasoft too
AntiVir and Avast freebies are better than the AVG freebie. Ad-Aware is an anti-spyware program, not an anti-virus. If you're looking for an anti-spyware program, the AVG AntiSpyware freebie is pretty good, probably better than Ad-Aware, although you could run both.
I'm a bit worried about your statement: ''All the FREE ones I've downloaded, ask me to pay afterwards....''
Some reputable anti-malware companies offer free trials, but that is made (pretty) clear, if it wasn't then you may have malware on your pc as the programs could have been rogues.

you avg is good.
You dont need any antivirus or spyware program provided you use common sense while browsing.
