Downloading is good but it does not give you offers that could be of good use to you and make your antivirus work optimally. Downloaded antivirus will nrmally just do some basic work for you, when it comes to more complicated things as relating to viruses and others you will find that your downloaded antivirus is not so complete afterwards, so i will advice you just buy antivirus and get the full package and access to some key functions that the antivirus offers.

Yeah its good, well thats what i have and its been a while since I had a virus...just make sure you run it every week, but its less powerful so if you buy it you only have to run it every month or so
Yea its fine i use freeware and i have no problems.
There are a lot of good antiviruses in the market that are actually comercial versions, but you can use them as a freeware if it is for personal use (in other words, your computer at home). That means you are actually using something that a company uses in you own house... I don't see how that can no be good. The strategy beyond that is that you may like it so much that you'll talk to your boss about the program so your company will buy it an use it as well. So they have to keep the antivirus good enough to sell. In the end, both sides win.

Absolutely. Free antivirus software easily beats big firms programs (if you have the right ones). Nortan, McAfee, etc, didn't find the big viruses on my computer several times. I knew there was a problem so I tried free ones and they removed the virus I was expecting PLUS more I never would have guess were there. AVG is better than most big firm programs, but there are several programs better than AVG.
NO buy it i did that my coputer messed up BAD
i use a paid suite and 1-2 extra freeware virus %26 spyware scanners. free botnets and any other free stuff to be as safe as possible... but i don't have like 10 of them running at the same time. i switch every 6mos - 1yr to see which i like best, but 've stuck with AVG for a while now.
AVG by Grissoft is a good free antivirus program. If you have comcast for your ISP, you can get McAfee for free
Yes its fine i use freeware and i have no problems if you download from a reputable FTP site.
